Of course, these items also take slots in your inventory. For this process you need salvage kits which is cheap but you can only use them a few times so you need to visit NPC vendors regularly to restock them. In PvP and WvW every char is set to lvl 80 if they aren't yet (when you go back to PvE you are set back).īut you can buy convenience stuff to make some things "easier".įor example: usually, you salvage the gear you don't need and either store your gained materials in your material bank and/or sell them (and also get "luck" in that process as consumables which increases your chance to get better drops in the future). Lvl 80 gear is the best, stats on gear aren't random, so you don't have to grind for the same item just for one more stat point. P2W is non-existant because you can already buy gear on the trading post or at NPCs. The restrictions are noticable but when you plan to play it solo first, you probably won't really notice it (no map-wide chat, two character slots, not everything is buyable on the tradepost ). The core game is designed without mounts in mind because they have been implemented 5 years later, being able to use mounts makes it easier and faster but you miss some experiences because many landmarks to complete maps require some creativity to reach them.
Just be aware of the limitations and absurd restrictions to the content if you plan to buy into the game. It will more likely cost you over 1k gold. To get all the past LW content, EXCEPT FOR SEASON ONE THAT YOU CANNOT PLAT AT ALL EVER NOW, would cost you several hundred gold minimum, assuming the conversion rate is at its lowest. Sure, you can buy gems with gold, but you're not gonna have enough gold to convert to gems before you get to that point in the story. Past Living World seasons can only be accessed via buying them with gems. They have content locked behind a separate paywall. But just buying the expansion does not get you access to the whole game. to elaborate on what Snowman has said, if you plan to play with any seriousness, you're going to have to spend some money. You need to at least B2P it, otherwise you can't own mounts. Is it worth trying? is it completely F2P? is it Pay2Win? It's not worth it f2p.
